In Jan 9th
we attended a presentation done by our colleague Mansoor Alblooshi,in F11 in ADMC. His presentation Mansoor talked about the traffic accidents in the UAE and
the effect it leaves on locals. At First Mansoor Mentioned that car accidents
is the third reason of death among UAE national specially the young people. He
said that about 96% of the accidents happen due to rush and reckless driving
specially from young people and the over speeding is the second reason for accidents. Also Mansoor mentioned that another reason is modifying cars to add
more horse power to it which make the cars a lot faster. Another reason that
Mansoor also mentioned is disrespecting the laws and not using traffic signals
when changing the lanes in addition to lack of taking care of the regular car
maintenance for example the car tires that could cause a huge accidents if the
tire exploded. Finally Mansoor said that in 2008 in Abu Dhabi alone the main
cause of death was car accidents by a rate of 68% of the deaths in Abu Dhabi.
In my opinion Mansoor gave a good presentation but he could have done better by
giving some of the solutions to solve this huge issue in the UAE and mention
what are the government doing now to help reducing the car accidents and is it
working or there should be a change in these procedures like speed cameras,
that personally I don’t think it effects anybody cause locals don’t worry about
paying the speed tickets like they used to.
